Beyond the Game
Tommy McDonnell, Partner, Wealth Advisor, shares his experience with athlete clients.
The athlete client is so much different from 99% of the other clients at Corient and in private wealth management as a whole, because the large part of what we do is on the family office, business manager, concierge white glove approach that we take with our athletes and our families.
Tommy McDonald, I'm one of the heads of the sports entertainment group here at Corient, Partner, Wealth Advisor. What we decided to do in July of 21 when NIL went live officially was create an NIL program that at its core was really suppose to be more of an educational program for athletes, their families. These are 18, 19, 20, 21 year olds who are now experiencing new wealth for the first time.
The trust that comes with essentially turning over your entire off field business on a financial side too, is something that we take very seriously. We have not had a client that we've worked with during NIL that has chosen to go with a different wealth advisor as they've transitioned to the NFL.
