Planning with Pride and Purpose
Barbara Bilello, Partner, Wealth Advisor, shares how understanding her clients' unique challenges allow her to provide personalized financial designed for long-term wealth.
Wealth management is definitely a personal business. So when you start to really dig deep into family structure and gender orientation and sexual preference and sexual orientation, it does get very personal. My name is Barbara Bilello. I'm a partner and wealth advisor with Corient. I work with the LGBTQ community and they come to me because they want to work with someone who is familiar with the challenges that they face cause we've been through them ourselves.
One of the most important decisions that I help LGBTQ+ clients make is definitely their estate planning to make sure that their wishes are outlined in front of them. The other piece that I would say is this community in and of itself is growing. It actually happens to be the fastest growing minority in the United States.
I would also say that the community in the U.S. alone has wealth, in excess of $1.4 trillion. This community, they need someone to help them steward their wealth, do it responsibly and do it in the way that would help them create a long-term financial plan for themselves and for their legacy.
